PEACE

The four Advent candles are a beautiful Christmas tradition. Each one has a special meaning reminding us to prepare our hearts in the weeks leading up to Christ's birth. When we focus on God and keep our minds on Him this holiday season, we will be able to rest in the perfect peace of the world.

Let's use the five candles of Advent to guide and prepare your hearts for the season in celebration of Jesus’ birth. Return each week for a brief devotional time with a word, song, scripture writing and prayer being mindful of what is happening in the world today.

The Angels’ Candle - Peace

Sometimes it’s easier to stay quiet when people are divided.

We don’t want to get involved because it feels safer to stay on the sidelines.

Sometimes we find ourselves sitting at the table with people who know just how to push our buttons.

They question our choices, our faith, and even the way you raise our children. They have a knack for making you feel small with just a few words

Stepping in as a peacemaker takes courage.

Jesus, the Prince of Peace, prayed for unity even in the Garden of Gethsemane, on the night before He died. Unity was on His heart, and it’s the very message of Christmas.

When He was mocked, He didn’t retaliate. When He was challenged, He didn’t strike back. He could have fought, could have said more, done more, but He chose silence and surrender. Why? So that even those who stood against Him might be saved.

May we be like the lamb trusting that God is at work even when things are hard.

[Bridge]
And the greatness of His Reign
Will never end
Let there be peace on Earth
And all goodwill to Men
Come let us worship Him

Scripture Writing and Prayer

As Jesus prayed for unity in the Garden --

“That all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me” John 17:21
